In recent weeks, Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen has been meeting with members from interim government of the country, including Professor Muhammad Yunus, Chief Adviser of Interim Government of Bangladesh, exchanging views on enhancing cooperation.
According to website of the Chinese Embassy in Bangladesh, since September 1, Yao had met with Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan, Adviser of Interim Government of Bangladesh, Wahiduddin Mahmud, Bangladeshi Planning and Education Adviser, Nurjahan Begum, Health and Family Warfare Adviser of Interim Government of Bangladesh, and Shafiqur Rahman of Bangladesh Jamaat e Islami.
Previously on August 25, Yao met with Professor Muhammad Yunus, during which the Chinese ambassador said that China strictly follows the principle of non-interference in other countries' internal affairs, respecting the development path independently chosen by the Bangladesh people, and expressed hope that Bangladesh will achieve unity, stability, development, and prosperity at an early date.
"No matter what changes have taken place in the domestic situation of Bangladesh, China's commitment to develop China-Bangladesh relations remains unchanged," said Ambassador Yao, noting that China will also maintain visits and exchanges at all levels and in various sectors, elevating the Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership to a new height.
Analysts said that ambassador's extensive outreach to various sectors in Bangladesh indicates that bilateral relations are likely to remain stable despite domestic political changes and these frequent interactions are expected to further strengthen cooperation between China and Bangladesh.
Currently, China is engaging with the Bangladeshi interim government to facilitate the smoother development of bilateral relations in the future, Liu Zongyi, secretary-general of the Research Center for China-South Asia Cooperation at the Shanghai Institutes for International Studies, told the Global Times.
Meanwhile, China has been involved in a number of infrastructure projects in Bangladesh, with some completed and some ongoing, Liu said that the Chinese side is also discussing with the interim government of Bangladesh on how to advance these projects.
Bangladesh is currently facing many challenges, and China can offer assistance in various fields, including education and infrastructure, Liu said.
